Popular 6 X 6 model now available with longer high-reach extendable turret device.
OSHKOSH, WIS. (September 15, 2016) – Oshkosh Airport Products, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) Company, will display an Oshkosh® Striker® 6 X 6 aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) vehicle equipped with a 65-foot Snozzle® high-reach extendable turret (HRET) at the 2016 ARFF Working Group (ARFFWG) Annual Conference. The conference, held in Frisco, Texas on September 18-21, is the premier event for the aviation firefighting industry.
“The ARFFWG Annual Conference is always a special event, but with the unveiling of our longest 65-foot Snozzle HRET on the Striker 6 X 6, this year’s exhibition promises to be even more exciting,” said Jeff Resch, Oshkosh Airport Products Group vice president and general manager. “The Snozzle is a game-changing aerial device with more than 100 sold, and we continue to expand its capabilities to meet the needs of ARFF professionals around the globe.”
The Snozzle HRET features a high flow nozzle, a piercing and perforated carbide steel tip, and an optional forward-looking infrared camera. The device enables firefighters to discharge from 6 feet (1.8 meters) below grade to elevations as high as 65 feet (19.8 meters). Recent advancements in the Snozzle technology include a new control system integrated into the vehicle electronics for easier diagnostics, faster servicing, simplified controls, smoother operation, and enhanced reliability. The piercing steel tip now features an updated hydraulic rotary actuator that delivers an increased range of motion (280º) and skin penetration strength, and includes a decreased overall size for enhanced operator visibility. The piercing tip can penetrate up to 48 inches to provide access deep into cargo areas for effective application of agent.
The Snozzle HRET device is engineered in two lengths: 50 or 65-feet. The 50-foot version is available on Striker 4 X 4, 6 X 6 and 8 X 8 configurations, while the larger 65-foot version is available on the 6 X 6 and 8 X 8. Both lengths are able to pierce the upper deck of new large aircraft (NLA).
