Oshkosh Striker 6 X 6 Featured At Inter Airport Europe

OSHKOSH, WIS. (Sept. 3, 2013) Oshkosh Airport Products Group, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), will showcase its Oshkosh® Striker® Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle at inter airport Europe – a leading airport industry exhibition of new products and technologies - held October 8-11 at the Munich Trade Fair in Munich, Germany. On display at outdoor booth E78, the Oshkosh Striker 6 x 6 is one of five apparatus recently delivered to Birmingham Airport in Birmingham, England.

“Our Striker 6 x 6 provides a new level of ARFF emergency response capabilities and we’re delighted to feature it at inter airport Europe,” said Jeff Resch, vice president and general manager for Oshkosh Airport Products. “The Birmingham Striker is notable in that it is among a group of five vehicles representing the first Strikers on duty in Great Britain.”

Designed for airports around the globe, the Oshkosh Striker features advanced safety systems and delivers innovative fire suppression technology, unmatched chassis performance, and unsurpassed reliability and durability. The 700HP, Tier 4i/Euro 5 emissions-compliant turbocharged engine is mated to a 7-speed electronic automatic transmission for smooth power delivery and a top speed greater than 70 mph (113 km/h). The engine power pack components are readily accessed through walk-in doors on either side of the engine compartment for easier servicing. The 6 x 6 axle configuration (with Oshkosh TAK-4® all wheel independent suspension and Oshkosh rear steering system) offers a smooth ride and excellent off-road capabilities.

The Striker on display at inter airport Europe is equipped with a Snozzle® high-reach extendable turret. The Snozzle can penetrate an aircraft fuselage in the event of an aircraft incident, allowing direct and close range access to an onboard fire.  The Striker is also equipped with a hydrochem nozzle that can discharge water and dry powder simultaneously. Other features include a vehicle data recorder (to catalogue the driver’s actions when responding to an emergency), and a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera.
